While you definitely get the vibe that something isn't right, the twist was unexpected. Great effects and a sinister ending.

That twist was a shocker

Not as good as the book

Good but a lot was taken away from the book

This episode was relatively good for its somewhat low budget. My biggest problem is how much it
took away from the book, it would have been better if it was a 40-minute special. The design of Shock Street was actually okay, even though they didn't do much world-building. The twist ending also got a massive upgrade because in the book it was kinda out of nowhere but in the episode you had some subtle hints. Sadly the funny giant praying mantis wasn't in this episode, but
some of the other monsters/ghouls were. So altogether the episode was good enough and also a fairly decent adaptation to the book.
should've stuck with the book

Warning: Spoilers
they should've stuck with the book version. there was no giant mantis, and they had a few minutes left to blow and wasted it on some dumb "ROBOTS WANT REVENGE" thing at the very end.
of course the acting was all universally awful, it's supposed to be.
shockingly, most of the effects did not look badly done or obviously stitched in, like the fire in the house. I've seen faker looking fires in higher budget productions
