Eb claims to have seen two green aliens. One is wearing a purple dress and a ribbon.
Eb claims to speak alien. "Driggis", means yes, "cleegan" means morning,"dingle burvis" means good night, "frangen" means nice, "glipper" means "spaceship," and "plertuss " is the thing they left behind, but returned to pick up. "Gloint" is unknown but is accompanied by a slap in the face.
The advisory that only color TVs would be able to show that the stove turned green reflects the fact that not until 1968 did all national networks broadcast entirely in color. NBC was the first to convert to color broadcasts in 1965, followed by CBS in 1966, and ABC in 1967. NET, i.e. the National Educational Television, which later became PBS, followed suit in 1968. When this episode of Green Acres (1965) was broadcast in 1967, the majority of TVs in the U.S were still black and white. It would not be until 1972 before more color TVs were sold in the U.S. than black and white TVs.
Adjusted for inflation, the $22.40 offered Eb by the TV show would equal approximately $205 in the year 2023. The 25 cents Mr. Haney charges the UFO sightseers would equal approximately $2.25.
Haney has arranged for Eb to appear on The Luke Carter Show, live from Pixley, for a fee of $22.40. He also has a bus full of tourists who will pay 25 cents for a handshake from Eb.
