Will Parmalee and gang, along with Matt and Festus, stop off at a town named North Fork. Unlike the fictional Northfork, New Mexico in the series The Rifleman (1958), this North Fork is likely to be based on one of the real life North Forks. This may be the one that was located at one time in Oklahoma since Parmalee and gang were coming from Kansas and heading towards Texas. North Fork, Oklahoma is no longer in existence. It was covered by Eufaula Lake.
The Western Writers of America awarded this episode the Spur Award for Best Western Television Script.
This episode takes places in 1873, based on the fresh grave marker at the beginning of the story.
The word "found" in the title means the cowpoke would receive food and a place to sleep. Related to the Latin word for foundation.
