There's Gold in Them Thar Hills!

Rory Calhoun, people! Rory Calhoun! What a fun episode. John Fiedler shows up again as one of Jonathan's employees with investment recommendations, which leads them to the old west. The Harts befriend Calhoun's character, the owner of an entire former old west ghost town that's been turned into a living museum/tourist attraction. Everyone dresses and acts period. Stagecoach, highway robbery, and all. This thing must have been a stitch to film. Plus, we get some fun stunts, not all of which included the benefit of a StuntJonathan. In the end, most of these things come down to money; this one's no different. Seems the mine the original town was built around before it was abandoned then turned into a tourist attraction just might be sportin' gold after all. And great big props to Lionel Stander for getting his 74-year-old self up onto that horse and back down again without benefit a stool. Even bigger props to the dog for sitting int hat saddlebag. Just a fun, fabulous episode; they were so lucky to get Rory Calhoun.

Harts at High Noon

Jonathan and Jennifer are asked to buy an apparently bankrupt ghost town which is a tourist attraction and finds more than he bargained for such as witnessing the death of a stuntman who is shot with a gun that was supposed to be loaded with blanks. As the Harts investigate a murder that leads them to gold.

As a fan of westerns this is obviously going to impress me with its glorious depiction of Stagecoach stunts, gunfights, goldmine and a wild and woolly western town. Jennifer and Jonathan are in the middle of it and end up with a passel load of real lead winging their way. Rory Calhoun fittingly guest stars in a genre he was known for, and he is reunited with Robert Wagner, who he had co-starred with in "The Silver Whip" 1953 ( also starring Dale Robertson. Graham Jarvis stars as a tourists who keeps on saying "love this stuff!" It's a solid episode, pardner!

Uh-oh!

The officer is wearing an Arizona DPS uniform shirt and this was filmed in California. Sounds like a goof to me.
