Can you dance your way to a woman's heart?
pensman11 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
And in a few more years you couldn't have paid enough to get Richard Boone, Charles Bronson, and George Kennedy in a half hour TV show, but here they are. Henry Grey (Bronson) paid to bring Callie out to his ranch as his mail order bride. But the strong-willed Greek is repulsed by the weak-willed momma's boy. She prefers the loud-mouthed Rud Saxon (George Kennedy) who loves to party and live large. Henry has to figure what he wants more: a wife or his momma.

Paladin brings Henry over to Saxon's party where everyone is square dancing. But she wants to dance Greek style and sings a song of what she needs in a man. But when she is looking for a partner, Henry tries some dutch courage but can't see a Greek dance as manly. So Paladin, who does everything well, steps in and the dance quickly becomes erotic—well erotic for 1961. This was pre 1964's Zorba the Greek.

Finally Henry jumps in and is starting to pull it off when his momma arrives. Henry chooses Callie, and tells his momma to go home. However, Rud Saxon isn't about to give her up. But Callie has decided, and it's her decision that counts. And even though Henry has passed out from drink, (the title is "Proof" of Love, so why not a play on words) he did stand up for her and that's what she was waiting for.

However, I envy clharmon53's memories.

My experience with Paladin
clharmon5311 July 2011
my parents were in the square dancing scene. it was wonder full to see them again together as they have both passed. i was 7 years old. i met Richard Boone, George Kennedy, Charles Bronson and Michael pate. had lunch with Michael pate..the story line was good, but my memories of the filming are better. have to say all actors were very nice and friendly. there was also other episodes with my father as an extra and more episodes were filmed at my home location on the tumalo river. my father was caretaker of tumalo park in 1961. all of these actors went on to do many more movie and television shows. they made many episodes in the Bend Oregon location as it is very beautiful.

Pooping The Party

Warning: Spoilers
Well, I guess I'm going to be the T in the punchbowl here. Whereas the episode was probably "right" for the times, there is so much wrong from an analytical standpoint. The plop has already been described, so I'll just get on with a different POV. First, Callie traveled at Henry's expense as a "mail order bride", but Callie determines that she's more interested in the neighbor Rud, so she goes to Rud instead of staying with Henry. Henry gets PO'd and hires Paladin to help him get Callie or his money back. Paladin should have never taken the job, but he does. At Rud's joint, Paladin points out that Rud should refund Henry's money, which Rud does. Huh??? If anyone should refund Henry's money, it's Callie, OR more appropriately, the mail order bride company that Henry sent his money to. So, then there's all manner of Jiving goes on, and Callie finally decides to go back to Henry. In the mean time, Jud gets beat up and left unconscious on the floor without getting a refund. Paladin then gives Jud's refund money to Callie.??? Callie has NO claim on the money This episode was very brassiere.
