the song is the ginchiest. That word alludes to Kookie of 77 Sunset Strip who popularized and possibly coined the word.
"Malihini" is Hawaiian for newcomer, generally applied to tourists.
Much of the underscoring is straight-ahead crime jazz from the "77 Sunset Strip" playbook. As the series progressed, it added more Hawaiian-flavored music to the library.
