- Col. Hogan and his Heroes assist local resistance forces sabotage hidden explosive stashes the Gestapo plans to use to destroy bridges and other resources as the Nazis prepare to retreat from advancing Allied Forces.
- Under the supervision of Gestapo Major Hochstetter, two trucks loaded with cases of dynamite arrive at Stalag 13. Colonel Klink, always intimidated by the Gestapo, agrees to allow the camp's 'cooler' to be used as temporary storage and an office for the Major. The Heroes learn that the explosives will be divided and shipped to different unspecified destinations. Hogan initiates a plan to hijack the first truckload being driven by Sgt Schultz. The scheme quickly goes awry when the truck, the explosives and Schultz all disappear en-route. The next morning Sgt Schultz and the empty truck return to the camp with no explanation being provided. For Hogan, the goal has now changed. No longer is the aim to hijack the next load but rather to find out what became of the missing dynamite.—Harry Tumilson
- At the start, Hogan is in the barracks looking out through the sink periscope. He sees Major Hochstetter and 1 Gestapo guard going into Klink's office. Hochstetter wants to store a load of dynamite in the cooler. Then he asks for a driver. Klink offers Corporal Weber, and then Sergeant Schmidt. Both are declined. He wants someone who is not needed, someone who is expendable. Klink and Hochstetter both turn and look at Schultz. Klink tells Schultz that he is proud for him for 'volunteering' for the assignment, whatever the assignment is.
In the barracks, Hogan and the men were listening in on the coffee pot. Hogan says that this might be a chance to get more dynamite. Schultz then comes in the barracks. He gives the men money that he owes them, and wants to settle up. He is concerned about his new assignment. He tells them that he is going to be driving a dynamite truck. He does not know where is going, but he says that the Gestapo mentioned the Flensheim Road. He talks a bit about his wife, and then leaves.
Hogan goes to Klink's office and complains about the dynamite stored in a POW camp. He wants to make a formal protest, that storing such material in a POW camp is against the Geneva Convention. Hogan tries to convince Klink not to keep it here. He tells Klink that if it goes up, Klink goes up with it. Klink then opens the door to the outer office and tells Hilda to prepare furlough papers - for himself.
Later, a truck is loaded with dynamite. Hogan gives the men plans for hijacking the truck. Hogan, Carter, Newkirk, Baker, and LeBeau go out of camp through the tree stump tunnel entrance. LeBeau is at one spot, and reports that 'Big Boy', meaning Schultz and the truck, are on his way. Hogan then tells the Underground agent with him of some plans. Hogan waits 45 minutes, then calls Baker on the walkie-talkie. Baker says that Schultz never passed him. Hogan does not know what happened. He has the men return to home base.
Hogan is in the tunnel with Newkirk, Carter, Baker, LeBeau, and the Underground agent. He asks what happened. Newkirk suggests, sarcastically, that they turn out the lights and whoever stole Schultz and the truck put them on the table, no questions asked. After hearing that, Hogan says that he wished that we had our own cooler, and climbs the ladder up to the barracks.
Later, Newkirk goes to Klink's office. He sees Hogan and Hilda kissing in the outer office. Newkirk says that the truck came back early this morning, empty. Hogan starts to leave; Hilda tells him that he forgot his cap, hands it to him, and kisses him.
Schultz goes to the barracks, and wants his money back. Hogan gives a radio to Schultz, after having fixed it. Hogan and Schultz then go the barracks door and see another truck being loaded; Schultz says that Corporal Muller is driving this one.
Hogan goes back into the barracks and tells the men that it is more important that we know where they are putting the stuff than getting more dynamite. Hogan then tells Underground agent Berger to search the Flensheim Road for any unusual disturbances or other things which may indicate where the dynamite is hidden.
Later, Newkirk goes to Klink's office, and sees Hogan and Hilda 'dictating' again. He says that there is a message from Berger saying that they found a cache of dynamite, and there will be meeting at 2300 tonight.
That night, Hogan, Newkirk, LeBeau, and Berger go to the place where Berger found the cache of dynamite. Hogan thinks for a bit, and then says that a power plant is nearby, and they hid the dynamite to blow up the power plant, among other things, when the time comes. Germany is losing the war, and when they evacuate the area, they want to blow up some of their plants and other things. Another cache has also been found.
Back in the barracks, Hogan tells the men that Hochstetter has the job of hiding the dynamite. Hogan tells Baker that they need a car, take it out of camp and hide it. He then tells Baker to call Berger, that they need a girl to serve as a 'secretary'. Hogan then tells Carter that he will impersonate the Fire Chief of Hammelburg.
Carter/Fire Chief and the 'secretary' go to STALAG 13, and go to the cooler, where Hochstetter has a desk set up in a cell as his office for the time being. Carter/Fire Chief talks with Hochstetter. Carter/Fire Chief lights a cigar; there is dynamite around, but Hochstetter does not object. While Hochstetter helps the 'secretary' with her coat, Carter lights a smote bomb and tosses it. The 'secretary' makes a pass at Hochstetter, and makes a romantic remark about his cap. Carter then lights another smoke bomb and puts it in the pocket of Hochstetter's cost, which is hanging on a coat rack. The 'secretary' offers to give Hochstetter her address, but he says that the Gestapo already has all addresses. Carter/Fire Chief and the 'secretary' leave after their 'inspection', and Hochstetter walks back into his office, into a heavy smoke screen. There is a fire alarm sounded. Hogan and LeBeau go into the cooler under cover of the smoke, and take Hochstetter's briefcase. Newkirk, Carter, and Baker take a fire hose into the cooler. Baker shoots Hochstetter with the hose. Hogan remarks that Hochstetter could have been blown up. Blown up, or drowned.
At the end, Hogan, Carter, Newkirk, and the 'secretary' are in the tunnel discussing the operation. LeBeau is up top, and says that Schultz is coming. They all hurry to get upstairs. Newkirk wants to stay below, with the 'secretary', but Hogan won't let him. There is an assembly in the compound. Because of the rapid response of the fire crew, Klink awards the camp one whole week of white break. with weinerschnitzel on Saturday. He then introduces Hogan. Hogan wants to thank everybody for what they did, and says that he had wonderful time at your fire.
