Another interesting case for Doctor Corder.
Sleepin_Dragon3 May 2023
Doctor Corder's peaceful Sunday is disturbed when a man turns up suffering with a bout of amnesia, the man, one Frank Hewitt has attacked a shop's mannequin, but has he committed another crime without knowing .....a crime of murder.

Quite an enjoyable mystery, it's a case without any humour, it's quite a serious affair, but a pretty good one. Very well made and well acted, which seems to be the norm for this show. Several themes explored here seem to be way ahead of their time.

It's arguably the first episode where it's an out and out mystery, a whodunnit as it were, has Hewitt killed his wife, or was he set up.

I really did like the characters, each of them had a richness, The Cartwrights, Carnadine, right down to The Heckler, played by the excellent Harry Fowler.

7/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Dr Corder is concerned about a confused man who comes to his practice one evening.

Corder knows that the man has given a false name and he immediately believes that the man needs to be hospitalised.

Eventually Dr Corder finds out that the man is called Frank Hewitt. He is deeply religious and he has attacked a female shop mannequin.

Hewitt's wife has been away for a few days and when Corder meets her, she seems rather unconcerned or standoffish.

It is only when Dr Corder meets Hewitt's sister that he begins to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

The episode contains scenes of Christian revivalist meeting on street corners with Harry Fowler playing the cheeky heckler.

It also adds a layer to Hewitt's state of mind, that of original sin.

As Corder learns. Hewitt was married but his marriage fell apart. His wife refuses to divorce him and he has been seeing another woman. That has caused him anxiety as he has been sinning.
