Joe Flynn gives Dr. Bellows a run for his money
kevinolzak26 November 2016
"Dr. Bellows Goes Sane" finds General Peterson so fed up with the doctor's wild tales, such as seeing elephants, giraffes, and grizzly bears in Major Nelson's living room, that he replaces him with a new psychiatrist, Dr. Corbett (Joe Flynn, McHALE'S NAVY). Like his predecessor, he's somewhat eccentric in his own right, yet determined to dig for the truth behind Major Nelson, who leaves exhausted from his first examination. Working to restore Dr. Bellows to his rightful place as resident NASA psychiatrist is better said than done, especially after he reports snowfall in General Peterson's office. Corbett's unobservant attitude frustrates Jeannie's attempts to drive him crazy, but by blinking a black bear in his office, coupled with his own hypnotic wheel, he imagines that the bear is really Major Nelson. Joe Flynn was the perfect choice to play this loony doctor, but the writing just wasn't up to snuff.
