A bit of an odd episode where there's the slight insinuation that spiritual forces might be at work. Ironside chalks it all up to "coincidence" and the power of suggestion but that's not quite convincing. This is especially true in the sequence where Mademe Jabez touches Ironside's arm and then he feels pain in it for the rest of the episode. The obvious answer is she pricked him with something, but that's never revealed and it's left hanging.
Fran Belding is more restrained and somewhat normal this episode, so tolerable. Clearly they watched her first appearance and noted that nobody would buy Ironside ever letting an underling acting the fool around him to such an extent.
A couple of fun actors appear. Paul Stewart is in this. He was in hundreds of movies and TV shows, and for me most memorably the host of "Deadline," an anthology tv series from 1959 that recently came out on video.
Also, Ray Walston! Yes, Mr. Hand from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", and of course he was also in "My Favorite Martian." But he'll always be Mr. Hand to me.
