The Return Of Salathiel Harms
bkoganbing1 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Roosevelt Grier makes a second appearance as West Coast skip tracer Salathiel Harms in a Kojak episode. He pretty well dominates things as you would expect anyone of his size to do just that.

But as luck would have it, Grier's pursuit of a mob hit-man who jumped bail in San Francisco also compromises an undercover operation that the Manhattan South Squad has at a certain mob bar. The inside man is Stavros and he and Kojak have a nice system of code where Stavros pretends he's calling his bookie and places bets on the other end in a code they've worked out. Right in plain sight, you've got to love it.

Barry Snider who plays the hit-man also picks up a contract in New York to hit a newly appointed special prosecutor. And he happens to believe in the occult, fortune tellers and such and kills poor Swoosie Kurtz whom he thinks ratted him out.

Snider's apprehension by Grier is one of the funniest things ever filmed on the Kojak series. You have to see it and I guarantee the belly laughs will come.

I still don't understand why his Salathiel Harms character was never picked up for a series of its own. I guarantee you will not forget Grier and what he does with the part.

A royal thorn in the butt
kapelusznik1816 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** Let. Theo Kojak, Telly Savalas, has his hands full trying to prevent a major hit on Special US Government Agent Whelan, John Reilly, ordered by mob boss C.C Cordick, Lenny Cimino, in order 025to put an end of his investigation of C.C's drug trafficking in the city. It's when bounty hunter Salathiel Harms, Roosevelt "Rosie" Grier, came on the scene that things really starts popping. In that the man who's Harms is out to arrest and bring back to SF to face justice is the very man who was given the $100,000.00 contract or hit-job to do Whelan in fugitive Tony Mira,Barry Snider.

Let. Kojak and bounty hunter Harms soon are force to work together, even though they can't stand each other, tracking down Mira when his girlfriend fortune teller Julie Di Nata, Swoosie Kurtz, the only person who knew his whereabouts is found murdered in her pad by him whom Mira suspected of ratting him out to the police. With Mira impersonating a policeman while trying to get a shot at Agent Whelan at a meat packing plant not far from the now destroyed World Trade Towers both Let. Kojak and Harms jump into action. In a wild car chase where Harms commandeers a NY taxi cab Mira is finally apprehended-After being worked over by Harms- in the cold storage of the meat packing plant that he was hiding out in. It's there where it's discovered that the drugs that Mob Boss C.C Cordick was smuggling into the city was packed inside the meat!

P.S One of the major reason in watching this "Kojak" episode is the appearance of former NFL defensive back Roosevelt "Rosey" Grier as the 6 foot 6 inch 260 pound bounty hunter Salathiel-Or Sal for short-Harms. Grier just came off staring in the bad movie classic "The Thing With Two Head" that was to immortalize him in the world of bad movie history as well as him being one of the men together with Olympic gold medal winner Rafer Johnson who disarmed RFK-Bobby Kennedy-assassin Sirhan Sirhan. That's after Sirhan blew Bobby away at the kitchen area of L.A Ambassador Hotel in June 1968.
