Season 3 Episode 3- An excellent entry featuring Sondra Locke as Gwyneth Jenkins, a young woman who has escaped from an asylum, but whom Caine realizes is not insane. She has the gift of 'second sight,' the ability to see things before they happen, and is ignorantly regarded as crazy by those who think she is the reason bad things occur. A Welsh-born girl who was raised by Indians, the frightened Gwyneth believes that it is a curse that will lead her to her death, until Caine accompanies her on a journey designed to help her understand her gifts, eventually leading to the survival of an endangered frontier family. At the end of their journey together, before she returns to her Indian friends, Caine asks her the question that she had not yet been ready for, if his missing brother is dead or alive. She desperately tries to respond in the affirmative, gives up, and says "poor Danny," not having been told his name, inadvertently confirming that Caine's search will not be in vain. This episode helps the viewer understand what it would be like to possess such a gift, and how to overcome one's fear of it. Gwyneth's uncle and aunt are played by Howard Duff (previously seen in "A Dream Within a Dream"), and Jan Sterling, while the ever present James Hong here cameos in the flashback, as a madman who hears voices beyond the walls of his room. Leading the asylum posse is Ken Swofford (previously seen in "Night of the Owls, Day of the Doves"), who exits early, never to be seen again. Next up- "A Small Beheading"
