The defense's so-called psychology "expert" said she has a doctorate in Kinesiology, which is the study of body movement. Though there is no such degree as a Doctorate of Kinesiology, a doctor working in the field of Kinesiology usually has a Doctorate of Philosophy and sometimes an additional Master or Bachelor of Science degrees (though a few countries such as Canada have a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree). The field of Kinesiology involves the study of the different mechanisms of movement and has applications in the fields of biomechanics and orthopedics; strength and conditioning; sport psychology physical and occupational therapy; and sport and exercise. A degree in Kinesiology can prepare a person to work in the fields of physical education instruction, rehabilitation, health and safety, health promotion, workplace, sport and exercise industries. Higher level degrees in Kinesiology, such as a bachelors degree or higher, can prepare a person to work in the fields of biomechanical and biomedical research. While an advanced degree in Kinesiology would involve some study of psychology and neurology it is not the primary focus of the field and certainly wouldn't make the individual an expert in the field of biochemistry or behavioral psychology as the "expert" witness claims to be. In fact the term "kinesiologist" is neither a licensed nor professional designation in the United States nor in most countries.
