D-Girl is a derogatory Hollywood term referring to a female producer who believes she has more power than she actually does.
Referring to the actor running on the beach with the character Evan Grant, Briscoe says, "(Bill) Cosby used to be his sidekick on that show." The actor is Robert Culp (uncredited and playing himself), who actually co-starred with Bill Cosby in the hit 1960's TV comedy-drama I Spy (1965).
The first episode in a three-episode story-arc which continues in Turnaround (1997) and concludes with Showtime (1997).
This episode appears to be based on two separate cases:
- The 1994 O.J. Simpson murder case.
- The 1947 Elizabeth Short (a.k.a. "The Black Dahlia") case.
Actor Scott Cohen has appeared in multiple series across the L&O universe. In addition to three episodes of this series, he also appeared in New York Undercover (1994) and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (2001). He also played D.A. Investigator Chris Ravell on Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005).
