- A lawyer's murder is related to a case involving a death row inmate's innocence. Former prosecutor Jamie Ross represents the lawyer's accused killer, and she faces an ethical dilemma involving an "anonymous" tip and her attorney-client privilege.
- The murder of a lawyer leads to a suspect (Gordon) who also might be a suspect for an earlier related murder for which another person (Dupree) was convicted. McCoy finds himself going up against his former associate Jamie Ross because she represents the new suspect Gordon. The prosecutors eventually learn that Jamie, when she was an ADA, had tried to help the convicted suspect by anonymously providing a tip on evidence that could have exonerated him. McCoy learns that the prosecutor in the earlier case, now a judge (Wolinsky), chose not to look into it because he thought it might jeopardize his chance to become a judge.—rcs0411@yahoo.com
- Detectives Briscoe and Green investigate the murder of Martin Felder, a lawyer who was found bludgeoned to death in a public garden. Felder worked primarily in corporate law, but the police learn that he was representing a death row inmate, Steven Dupree, who was convicted of killing a woman, Dana Hagen. Dupree also had a reputation for changing lawyers and even attacking one in court. Felder had been seeking information on a Michael Gordon as it related to Dupree's case, but no such person is ever mentioned in his case file. The police also learn that Dana Hagen's husband, Eric Hagen, had threatened Felder, warning him to stop looking into the case. Hagen is cleared, however, and the police are back to square one. They find Michael Gordon and come to believe the wrong man may be on death row. The ADA who prosecuted Dupree, Andrew Wolinsky, is now a judge and refuses to accept they may have made an error. Former ADA Jamie Ross is Gordon's lawyer but now faces a serious ethical dilemma.—garykmcd
