- A bored editor from the east comes to Laramie to relive what he feels is the excitement of the heroes of the west. When he stirs up more than he bargained for, Troop must come between a hero and this naive newspaperman.
- Kansas City newspaperman Luther Boardman has taken over the newspaper in Laramie hoping to relive the excitement of the wild west. He wants Troop's cooperation in getting the news but isn't happy with Dan lack of eagerness to cooperate. Mort Peters, known gunman, is in a fight in the Birdcage. Dan goes to handle it without waiting for Boardman. Peters is knocked out when he hits his head on the bar after Dan punches him. Boardman misses the clash and decides to write it up as if Troop violated Peters's rights. After Peters trial and release, Boardman goads Peters into challenging Troop. They meet in the Birdcage. Peters is blinded by Boardman's flash equipment and nicks Boardman while Troop wounds Peters. Boardman initially thinks he is mortally wounded but he has learned his lesson.—Anonymous
