Earp is awaiting the arrival of Virgil and Morgan so the three of them can go west to ranch. Bat Masterson returns to Dodge City with a beautiful fiancée on his arm and a wad of cash in his pocket. His plan to refurbish a rundown saloon, The Lone Star, runs counter to Mayor Kelley's desire to shutdown disreputable businesses and places him in direct conflict with Mike de Graff who owns the biggest gambling hall south of the railroad tracks. Neither Earp or Judge Tobin believe Kelley's idea is feasible. When de Graff's hostess Sweetie, tells him about Bat's plan and that his new hostess Doreen is young and pretty, de Graff decides to fight back by destroying The Lone Star. Bat tells Doreen he wants to marry her once the saloon is making a profit. Ben Thompson returns to Dodge City wealthy after winning and selling a gold mine while in Denver. Mayor Kelley decides to pass a rule outlawing women or hostesses in saloons leaving Sweetie out of work and fed up with de Graff. Bat sells The Lone Star to Thompson as de Graff and friends destroy The Lone Star forcing Earp to intercede.
