The story continues, good episode.

Sam's world becomes even more confused when a murder takes place at a factory, which is exactly the location of his present day kitchen.

Once again the clash of styles makes this such an incredibly appealing watch, in addition we have some great characters here.

Sam is trying to bring in some modern day techniques, such as the tape recorder, Gene is naturally unimpressed, although Sam is looking more.content in this world.

The banter between Sam and Gene continues to be perhaps the best aspect, I also enjoy Sam's deeper scenes with Annie, and of course the girl with the clown.

It's a clever story, not one of the best episodes from Series one, but it's still very good entertainment, 8/10.

Getting to be a habit

Warning: Spoilers
I have to say that gimmicky shows involving "time travel" (if that's what this is) can go horribly wrong and degenerate into progressively sillier situations. So I have been skeptical approaching "Life on Mars." Having now seen Episode 3, I think I'll be sticking it out. John Simm is very good. He has the difficult task of playing in a straight cop procedural whilst simultaneously continuing the subplot of being a stranger in a strange land. It is easy to lose one's balance doing that, but Simm never seems to falter. Philip Glenister, meanwhile, is a reckless force of nature. And in this episode, we get the first glimmers of how the relationship between Simm and Glenister may unfold. Hopefully the show will avoid turning this into a buddy picture, or at least a buddy picture only. Both the characters and the actors deserve better. But it should be enjoyable to watch, as I think the writers have something a lot more complicated in mind.

In this episode, it must be noted, John Henshaw turns in a standout character creation, managing to tread the fine line between the admirable and the maudlin.

Pretty good story here, too. I managed to get nothing right with my guesses.

OK, so maybe 10/10 is pushing it a bit, but I always view my ratings as what can be expected. Of course there may be future shows that come along and make this show seem trite or dated, but as of 2022 and considering this show was aired 16 years ago, there is nothing to detract.

From what I watched, there is nothing lacking. Much like all the best shows, we have motivated characters who never do things untoward, who never act ridiculously outside of their gamut.

This was a payback/feelgood episode and Sam deserved it, By all the gods!!!

Hunt and Tyler hit the streets

This is another good episode of this top notch show that brings the essence of 'The Sweeney' back to life on TV.

It just works, it's not hard to see why. The chemistry between Glenister and Simm is fantastic, there's great humour and music, and actually it's 'who done it?' nature works well too.

The time travel aspect has been reduced in importance slightly, as we can't have every episode be about Sam hating 70's life, but it strikes the right balance of both worlds.

Another good episode.
