The Ranger and Tonto are after the Bolton gang. The gang robbed a bank but one of their number was wounded. Now they are holding Doc Andrews and his wife Lucy hostage while the doctor treats the wounded man. The Ranger resorts to a disguise as an Italian immigrant to gain access to the house. But can this clever ruse actually work?
This episode is noteworthy as the second of four LR appearances by Greta Granstedt, who plays Lucy. What a life she led! Greta was born in Kansas but was raised in Mountain View, California. At the age of 14, she was found guilty of shooting her boyfriend with a pistol she carried in a holster like an old west gunfighter. Greta served a sentence in the girls reformatory, and then was banished from Mountain View forever. In San Francisco she becomes roommates with female adventurer Bessie Haley. Bessie soon married fellow adventurer Glen Hyde and the two of them disappeared while on their honeymoon, a mystery that remains unsolved to this day. Greta eventually became a Hollywood actress. She was married seven times, five of which ended in annulment. Greta never became a star, but worked steadily as a character actress. She certainly led a wild and unusual life, to say the least.
