Red Hawk, Chief Lone Eagle's son, finds gold on the Indian reservation. He reports this to Indian Agent Haskins and his assistant Trooper Cole. Haskins and Cole murder Red Hawk with one of the new army rifles. The Ranger and Tonto find the body and head for Fort Thorn to report it to Colonel Hayes. But Lone Eagle has already told the Colonel and also that the bullet in his son's body was from a new rifle. The Chief gives the colonel 24 hours to find the killer, or it's the warpath. Colonel Hayes assigns The Ranger and Tonto to find the murderer. They soon locate gold near where Red Hawk was killed and this puts them on the track. The Ranger suspects Haskins and comes up with a dangerous plan to prove it. That plan involves the Ranger facing a firing squad! Another well done, entertaining episode.
