Young Johnnie Williams sees Dave Beutel and Nat Gorman murder prospector Pete Bailey. Pete had found a big gold strike and made the mistake of showing it to Beutel and Gorman. The Ranger and Tonto find the body and take it to town. As a result, Johnnie's father and grandmother won't believe him. But the Ranger and Tonto do, along with their friend the sheriff. To protect Johnnie, Tonto claims to be the witness to the murder and sets himself up as bait to trap the killers. But these killers are smart. Catching them won't be easy, and Johnnie will be in danger as long as they are on the loose.
