Uncle Ed Andrews lives with his nephew, Frank Adams, Frank's wife, Laura and their daughter Susan. Uncle Ed resents being treated like a dottering old fool and being told not to whittle inside the house or drop crumbs and tobacco on the floor. Uncle Ed decides to go out and capture three prison escapees who are led by Lefty Mott. Ed encounters The Ranger and Tonto who are also on the trail of the bad guys. Uncle Ed goes home. That night, two of the bad guys break into the house. Ed gets the drop on them with his shotgun, but then foolishly tells them about Frank's $1,000 in cash hidden in the house. When Frank comes in and bumps into Ed, the outlaws turn the tables, steal the money, and get away. Ed is blamed for the loss. But he noticed some burrs on the outlaws pants that tell where they have their hideout. Determined to prove his worth as a man, Ed goes after them. Will The Ranger and Tonto be able to lend a hand? Perpetually old Will Wright plays Uncle Ed with just the right amount of old man stubbornness and likability. Peter Makamos makes another of his frequent LR appearances, once again as heavy, playing bad guy leader Lefty Mott. Will Wright's performance makes this episode a joy to watch.
