Good Episode; Casting Not Great

Warning: Spoilers
This episode sheds a light on the evil that is still plotted in this world. It raises awareness on how much is going on beneath the surface of our society.

The storyline I think was well thought of. The casting, however, could have been better. For example, Sam's German has such a thick American accent that he cannot possibly have been a Polish survivor of a concentration camp. He only has to say 'Jawohl, Frau Brandenberg', but instead he says 'Brandenburg' and pronounces the r in an American instead of a German way. Frau Brandenberg herself has a great German accent though.

The whole idea of hiring people to make the streets dangerous in order to get elected could have been more clear. For the rest, it was a good story. The ending was good as well; indeed we have no idea how this ends, as much of this is still going on in secret.

Sam was from Israel-he was an Israeli Jew and the actor himself was born in Israel, so he was not supposed to be German, but a Jewish man from Israel whose painting was stolen by the Nazis during WWII.

This was a great episode with awesome casting--always some humor thrown in by MacGyver even during tense situations. The recreating of the gas chamber caused chills because I had some relatives who were in concentration camps.

All in all a really good episode, and one that could actually play out even in present day America. Hatred runs rampant and there are those who think they are superior to others.

An Excellent Episode

When Sam (Nehemiah Persoff) is asked when the painting was stolen, he says, "1940, a Saturday morning", very quickly. Later, he is again asked when it was stolen and he again, clearly and slower this time, says '1940'.

In two places I have read that someone thought he was saying '1948', them saying that the Nazi's wouldn't have been confiscating art at that late date but I just watched this on Amazon Prime and 'rewound' it a couple of times. The first time he says '1940', he adds 'a Saturday morning' so quickly that the 'a' sounds like '8'. When he repeats it later, there is no mistaking that he says, "1940".
