Dobie has another love conquest, pretty Daphne (played by Cheryl Holdridge). Yes, there's a problem. As she tells the story, Dobie is into art while she's into big business, and they just don't mix... but she lets him do her homework?
After consulting with wise, old Mr. Pomfritt about economics 101, Dobie is convinced he can win Daphne over by majoring in business. In fact, since Daphne is working on a hypothetical business endeaver involving eggs, why not do the real thing? In steps "Get Rich Quick Gillis," who manages to "borrow" a little money from his mom, invest in the egg industry and HOPEFULLY become a teen egg tycoon?
Easier said than done, though Dobie "sounds" convincing talking to fellow egg investors with a southern accent? There's a good scene with business saavy college dean Magruder (well played by Raymond Bailey) who resents being called "Dean Baby" --until he realizes he too can make lots of money off eggs. Note that Bailey played this role a lot like his Mr. Drysdale part on the BEVERLY HILLBILLIES and is really funny.
How will it all end? Check out some hilarious dialogue, especially exasperated Mr. Pomfritt. Maynard rattles off a goofy business story in class, and driving him nuts, as usual.
This was Cheryl Holdridge's only appearance on the show, a regular on LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, playing Wally's girlfriend. Cheryl was great in these type of roles.
One super, well written episode all the way. 10 Stars.
