Turkeys are funny creatures (the way they look AND the way they sound), so this Thanksgiving episode, in which Kelly tries to stop her family and neighbours from eating her turkey Hank, is automatically amusing. Peggy, Bud and Jefferson make Hank a special bed (an oven dish) with a blanket (silver foil) and want to put him in his new home (the oven). Kelly suspects something is up so Peggy comes clean about her intentions. Horrified that her family want to cook Hank, Kelly takes the bird upstairs and lets it fly to freedom. What follows is very funny, the flightless bird falling to its death on the patio with a wonderful 'splat' sound effect.
The other storyline - Al trying to find an Aunt Maddie sweet potato pie - is reminiscent of the episode in which he searched for his favourite Chuck's Cheese Bowl Cherry Cheesecake, so it's a case of deja vu (and it wasn't all that funny the first time around). Thankfully, the turkey-based comedy makes this one of the funnier episodes of season eleven (which doesn't really say much, I know).
The best line comes from Bud: "His head's in the garbage."
