Don't touch Al's Bathroom?
Sylviastel16 June 2009
When Al's bathroom becomes the subject of Peggy's redecorating class, she turns it into a pink palace fit better for a queen and not a king. Al feels violated and he goes off to the nearest gas station where a line of men who are brought there by circumstances like their daughters home from college, in-laws visiting again, and of course when your wife makes the bathroom pink. One of the guys said that there was a place on the state line where it wasn't a gas station but rows of bathrooms fit for men. Al is allowed to go first in line out of sympathy. Then the bathroom is out of order and only a brave one dares to try it, Al decides to go home and fight for his castle.

A Return To Form After A Weak Episode
slightlymad2230 October 2014
Another quality episode of "Married With Children" in Season 5. After the drop in quality in the last episode, it's back on track again.

Plot In A Paragraph: Peggy takes an interior design course, and her first assignment is to redecorate a room in the house. Unfortunately for Al she chooses Al's bathroom.

The gorgeous Christina Applegate isn't given much to do here as Kelly, Katey Segel is the best she has been all season as Peggy, David Faustino's Bud is given some good scenes. But this episode is all about Ed O'Neil as Al Bundy. He is superb.

Marcy (Amanda Bearse) and Jefferson (Ted McGinley) don't feature in this episode

Season 5 of Married With Children is the show at the height of it's greatness.

Never mess with a man's throne!

We all know the "destruction" Al can wreak on a bathroom. You do not dare enter after Al emerges hitching his pants with newspaper under arm. Peggy learns the hard way not to mess with Al's garage bathroom and his mighty Ferguson toilet.

She spends a fortune for an interior design class and redecorates his inner sanctum into a girly frou frou disaster complete with a framed photo of herself much to Al's horror. He will not take this sitting down! Crank up "Bad to the Bone" as Al loads up on Mexican food while Peggy entertains her snobby instructor and class. "Let's rock." What Al does in the bathroom sends the class running in terror. A classic Al moment.

Bog standard.

A Man's Castle is far from the best that MWC has to offer (for starters, Christina Applegate is hardly in it), but it's still a vast improvement over the previous episode.

Peggy spends $2000 on a course at a School of Interior Design. She wants to redecorate one of the rooms in the Bundy house, but Al puts his foot down and says 'No'. Of course, this doesn't stop Peg from doing just that, turning Al's bathroom into a nightmare of pink, fake fur, and frills.

Al demands that Peg puts the room back to how it was but she refuses: she has her professor and classmates coming over so that her work can be graded. Unable to use his bathroom, Al visits a gas station restroom where he meets other men in similar situations. He decides that he will reclaim his toilet bowl whatever it takes...

There's not a lot to make this one very memorable, but at least there's no Hispanic Buck, and Al does give us the phrase 'running like a Frenchman from a cap gun', which I am sure will come in handy at some point.
