The Man who Met Andy Griffith!
Sylviastel18 May 2009
The killer's identity has been a well-kept secret in Dumpwater since most of the locals don't know who it is. There are two things that Dumpwater has a serial killer that goes loose and kills every five years and the man who met Andy Griffith. The locals have a pool on when they find the Bundys' bodies but they outsmart the killer for a change. When the Bundys are getting to read to head out of town, the killer gets Peggy. She offers some wholesome advice and sympathizes with the killer with classic lines like "I know what's it like to be alone. I have a husband and two kids but I don't going around killing people." Of course, Peggy suggests that she would do household chores in order to appease the killer. Anyway, the episode has some classic lines.

The Conclusion of the vacation from Hell!
blanbrn7 November 2010
In Part 2 of "Poppy's by the Tree" the Bundy's nightmare and hell of a vacation comes to a close in this small rural south town called Dumpwater, Florida! As the Bundy's have seen these country folk are different yet, they are proud while strange, yet the secret has been revealed that an ax murderer has stalked the town since 1967 and every so often he strikes and kills tourist so now it's the Bundy's turn! As mixed with comical lines and drama Peg(Katey Sagal)is taken hostage by the ax slasher. So interesting and fun was seeing her tied up and gagged and a comical note was she tried to plea with Mr. Ax that if he let her live she would clean his house, and big lie if you know Peg! Anyway she survives in the end and really this was a fun and interesting conclusion to the vacation from hell for America's favorite go against the grain family the Bundy's.

Slasher trash.

Part 2 of Poppy's by the Tree sees the Bundy's trying to avoid being slaughtered by a deranged serial killer who targets tourists staying at a cheap motel in Dumpwater, Florida.

The horror fan in me should really get a kick out of seeing my favourite TV family being attacked by an axe-wielding maniac, but the whole thing is way too farcical, the comedy so broad that it becomes embarrassing (Al and Peg avoiding the murderer's axe blows is particularly cringe-worthy). I know that the holiday themed episodes have their fans, but this one really didn't do it for me.
