now it's the Bundys turn!
Sylviastel10 December 2009
When the Bundys don't have enough money to buy a TV Guide, Al gets a second job by being a phone psychic and the whole family gets in on it. Unfortunately, Al gets a little over his head with the monopoly of the psychic scams. He arranges a meeting with the psychics from area including Madame Zelda played by Candice Azzara. She's furious that Al would exploit her gift. She says the spirits that Al hasn't bathed today or yesterday but Al dismisses her talents. When she decides to place a curse on them, she means it. She won't go be forgotten or swindled into giving her profits. Oh well, Jefferson cuts loose and gets out in time but the Bundys aren't so lucky in the end. But it's funny. The episode is not one of the show's best but memorable.

I predict that this one won't make you laugh much.

This episode takes the silliness to new heights, ending with the Bundy family being turned into chimpanzees after a psychic curses them, and Buck the dog transformed into a human. They incur the woman's wrath after Al goes into partnership with Jefferson on a fortune telling racket, giving predictions over the phone to the gullible and superstitious. Al becomes a kingpin with ambitions to not only control all of Chicago's psychics, but expand into other regions, but Madame Inga refuses to be part of his plan. After Al smashes her crystal ball, she places the curse that makes a monkey out of them all.

While I have enjoyed some of the show's really silly episodes in the past (the one where Al meets the aliens is one of my favourites), this one didn't do it for me at all - the laughs simply weren't there. And who thought it was okay to put lipstick on those chimps?
