Walter does not like Maude's new gay friend Barry.
This starts with Walter saying he does not like Barry because he is a pompous windbag and Maude says it's because he's gay. Robert Mandan plays Barry and he is very funny and acerbic, so different from the straight woman chaser he later played on "Soap". There are many funny scenes and Barry finally tells Walter he is probably jealous of his friendship with his wife. The funniest moment is when Maude laughs hysterically at this and calls Barry "Mary" by mistake!
