Sam's Floorshow
JordanThomasHall6 November 2019
Mr. Morelli (Italian character actor Frank Puglia) announces that he will be closing his restaurant due to declining customers. They seem to prefer Pagano's in Mt. Pilot where they feature a floorshow. Howard and Millie offer to help by going to Raleigh to hire an act from Charley Pierce's (Buddy Lester) theatrical agency. They hire the comedic Claghorn Brothers. The news attracts customers from all around, but due to a family emergency the act cancels. Howard and Millie plead with Sam to do his act from his days as a song-and-dance man to save the day. He declines, drawing the ire of his friends who pressure him to accept. Will it be enough to save Morelli's and who will continue the entertainment?

I agree with the previous reviewer who noted how prime this episode would have been for a variety show spotlighting each actor. Ken Jones' scarecrow song-and-dance routine is the episode highlight.

Berry Good

Warning: Spoilers
The only reason to watch this episode is to see Ken Berry do his song and dance act at Morelli's when the headliner cancels out. And make no mistake about it, he's very good. In fact, it made me wonder why they didn't make this sort of an "all-star" episode where all the cast get their variety moments--Goober could revive his impressions "Judy, Judy, Judy"; Howard could introduce a new (bad) ventriloquism act; Mille could sing or something (frankly I'd have watched her do just about anything). Invite the Darlings to come down from the mountain! But no. Sam does his one number and that seems to be enough for the citizens of Mayberry.

Ken Berry song and dance showcase.

Script is pretty ridiculous. People just don't get involved trying to solve everybody's problems. Frank Puglia as Morelli and Buddy Lester as Charles Pierce are quite bland. Symma Winston as Howard's date Shirley is lovely.

Wonderful to see Ken Berry show his song and dance skills. A very curious selection for a supper club crowd. I would of loved Ken Berry to sing a few songs with glammed up pretty Arlene Golonka. A highlight of the episode is the cute new hairstyle she's sporting. Jack Dodson was hilarious bombing telling jokes. Howard is gradually getting more screen time.

A fun episode definitely worth seeing.
