When The Stranger looks through a McCloud scrapbook during the opening credits, he turns to a page with stories reading "Marshal Kills Cabbie" (from "The Great Taxicab Stampede," episode 7.3) and "Lord Bridges Arrested" (from "London Bridges," episode 7.5). Those episodes were filmed before, but aired after, this one.
This was the only McCloud episode directed by Weaver. This was his last directorial credit out of his total of five, the others from when he was on Gunsmoke.
More than a dozen actors are uncredited, including at least two cops, a doctor, a pharmacist, a television announcer and children in the hospital.
The title is from "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" or "A Visit from St. Nicholas" first published anonymously in the Troy, New York Sentinel on December 23, 1823 by Clement Clarke Moore.
