Parker is a look-a-like for a British General
kfo94941 November 2014
In this episode, Ensign Parker is a near look-a-like for a British General named Pelly. Gruber comes up with a money making plan where Parker will dress up like the General and they will take money from sailors posing with the General. Binghamton makes a appearance and put a stop to the foolishness telling Parker he could be arrested for posing as a General.

It just so happens that the real General Pelly gets word, thanks to Binghamton, that he has a near double on the base. He needs a person to pose as him while he conducts a secret mission. They want the spies in the area to think that the General's whereabouts are known while the real General leads an invasion force. Parker will pose as the General. But it will not be easy when someone wants the General dead.

This was a likable story that was interesting enough to keep the viewer's attention the entire time. Maybe not the best episode in the bunch but there is not much you can do when a regular cast member has to play two roles in a show. Even though Joe Flynn was not in many scenes, the ones he was in was memorable. Nice watch.

Parker does his British act again--quite well
FlushingCaps4 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The crew has seen that a British general, General Smythe Pelle, looks exactly like Mr. Parker. Naturally, Gruber schemes to have Parker dress like the general, just to pose for pictures with whatever sailor will pay $10 to "Have his "picture taken with a genuine general." The idea is to gain money for an upcoming leave they plan to take to Noumea, New Caledonia.

Before McHale can quash this plan, Binghamton shows up and stops the plan and cancels their leave. Back at the base, Binghamton encounters the real General Smythe Pelle, and his violent reaction convinces the general that he thinks the general is somebody else. This prompts the general to come up with an idea to help him with a planned invasion.

Next, Parker is summoned to Comfleet as the brass has become aware of his likeness to the general. Parker is ordered to impersonate the general, to go around Noumea to fool spies into thinking the general is there, when he is actually about to lead a big attack.

McHale is assigned to aide Parker and the pair get to Noumea without the crew. A super-friendly French woman, Renee, keeps trying to spend some time with "the general" with McHale and Parker having no idea that she is a spy wanting to gain information. Viewers are privileged to see scenes where she conspires with her fellow spy, but our heroes do not know about this.

I think the best scene was when Renee had a few minutes with Parker alone. She gives Parker a big kiss and Parker's fake mustache as well. Luckily for Chuck, she isn't looking at him when he sees that she is now wearing the mustache. Our normally shy Mr. Parker gets surprisingly bold, saying, "Here we go again," as he gives her a big kiss and somehow gets the mustache back.

Later the two spies decide to kill the general. After a couple of failed attempts, McHale becomes aware that they are in danger. But Binghamton has arrived, via the 73, and he spots Parker and has to be stopped from exposing his masquerade before the spies find out.

McHale tries to protect Parker by enlisting his men, who arrive at a party hosted by the town's mayor for the visiting general, all disguised in various costumes (Don't ask how they get them. They seem to come up with all the variety of clothing and items needed for whatever as easily as cartoon characters just reach down behind their bodies and pull out all sorts of items.)

Parker is trying to stay away from Binghamton. He keeps running into Renee who is trying to steer him toward her accomplice, Henri, who is hiding in a side room. But Parker keeps jumping up, moving around, peeking out the door looking for the captain.

There was a lot of action in this episode, much of it rather silly. Parker did a good job because he wasn't super clumsy in this episode. It wasn't a great one, but a very funny one, getting an 8 from me.
