Here is an episode that viewers are going to have very different opinions. If you are just looking for comedy, of any value, then you may like this show. However, if you are looking for a nice entertaining story then this show does not fit the bill. It depends on how you look at the episode that will determine if you liked, or disliked, the final production of this mid-season three show.
The main part of the story involves Captain Binghamton's niece, Cynthia Prentice (Marlo Thomas), happens on the island when the plane she is riding needs to be refueled. Ms Prentice studies anthropology and is always reading or looking for special items in the line of study. For some reason she believes that Ensign Parker would make a very interesting study and tells her uncle, Binghamton, that she wants to be with him for a long time.
Binghamton takes this as she want to marry him. Binghamton cannot have any of this and sets out, with McHale's help, to stop the marriage. And with Parker dressing-up and running around like an ape man, it will not be long before the real intentions are known.
This story was difficult to understand on so many levels. One of the questions was why a plane that was only to refuel seem to drop Binghamton's niece off for a long stay? And the fact that Binghamton was sending Parker to a far away island for punishment just disappeared by the end of the show. There are many holes in this story that seem not to make sense. Throw in some questionable ape-man acting by Tim Conway and you have to choose which side of the line you want to stand. It is either a good fun comedy or a clumsy attempt at humor. The only real bright sport was the beautiful Marlo Thomas. She is a perfect ten in this episode.
