Douglas Odney: David Tremayne

Quotes

  • Michael Anthony : [Anthony rings the doorbell of David Tremayne at a late hour after Tremayne has gone to bed. Tremayne tosses on a robe and stumbles sleepily to the door]  Mr. David Tremayne?

David Tremayne : Yeah, that's right.

Michael Anthony : I'm sorry to disturb you so late, but, ah, may I come in? I have some extremely good news.

    David Tremayne : Come in.

Michael Anthony : [Anthony enters, opening his briefcase]  I, uh, wanted to give you this cashier's check, made out to you,

    [Tremayne yawns]

Michael Anthony : in the sum of $1,000,000.

    [Gives check to Tremayne]

David Tremayne : What'd you say?

Michael Anthony : I understand that you are an attorney, so I'm certain you can see that the check is valid.

David Tremayne : What is all this? Who would wanna give me a million dollars?

[Tremayne holds up the check to the light]

David Tremayne : A million dollars.

Michael Anthony : All that should really interest you is that you are a millionaire,

[Anthony withdraws a paper from his briefcase]

Michael Anthony : just as soon as you sign this document, which states that under penalty of forfeiture, you will not reveal the source or the amount of this money to anyone, except your wife, should you marry.

    David Tremayne : Sign?

Michael Anthony : Yes, right here.

    David Tremayne : Right there.

Michael Anthony : Yes, right there.

[Tremayne signs and Anthony retains the agreement]

Michael Anthony : Thank you, Mr. Tremayne. And while I'm certain that I have completely destroyed any chance of your getting any more sleep tonight, I doubt that you would feel it necessary for me to apologize.

    [Preparing to leave]

    Michael Anthony : Good night.
