Tom Drake: Dr. Alan March

Quotes

  • Michael Anthony : [Anthony enters March's office]  I beg your pardon?

Dr. Alan March : What do you want?

Michael Anthony : I'd like a few words in private with you, Dr. March.

Dr. Alan March : I'm sorry but I'm not seeing any more patients today. I suggest you make an appointment with Dr. Kenston.

Michael Anthony : I'm not a patient, Doctor. My name is Michael Anthony. I have a gift for you

    [Opens his briefcase]

    Michael Anthony : .

Dr. Alan March : I'm not interested. I don't believe in giveaways or whatever you're selling.

Michael Anthony : Oh, I'm sure you'll be interested in this.

Dr. Alan March : Mr. Anthony, I don't wish to be rude, but I have a great deal on my mind.

Michael Anthony : Perhaps this will help you, Doctor. You might call it a prescription.

    [giving March a check]

Michael Anthony : It's a cashier's check for a million dollars, tax-free. It's yours, Doctor, on one condition:

[producing a form from his briefcase]

Michael Anthony : That you sign this document pledging yourself not to divulge the amount of this check or how you got it. If you tell anyone, except your wife, should you marry, you will, of course, forfeit the money.

Dr. Alan March : One of us does need a prescription.

Michael Anthony : [Chuckles]  I think not. All you have to do is sign this document.

Dr. Alan March : Who would want to give this to me?

Michael Anthony : The donor must remain anonymous, Doctor. I can assure you he has his reasons, even though I don't know exactly what they are myself.

Dr. Alan March : Mr. Anthony, this is not a prescription. It's an escape.
