Silverstone was John Beresford Tipton's home, 60,000-acres of luxury and seclusion. It was to one of Silverstone's many laboratories Mr. Tipton summoned me one day. • Merle Roberts : [Bell buzzes at Merle's home. She responds to the door]  Yes?

  Michael Anthony : Miss Roberts, my name is Michael Anthony. I represent someone who is giving you $1,000,000.

  Merle Roberts : You what? Well, you'd better come in, Mr. Anthony.

  [Anthony enters and Merle motions to a sofa, on which the two of them sit] 

  Michael Anthony : [Opening his briefcase]  I wasn't able to find your name in the telephone directory. I wanted to get this cashier's check into your hands as quickly as possible, so I took the liberty of coming here unannounced.

  Merle Roberts : $1,000,000?

  Michael Anthony : Yes, Miss Roberts, $1,000,000.

  [Retrieving a document from his briefcase] 

  Michael Anthony : Because the donor wishes to remain anonymous, I must ask you to sign this, pledging yourself to reveal to no one the amount of this gift or the circumstances under which you received it.

  Merle Roberts : I understand. I won't tell anyone.

  Michael Anthony : You must never break this pledge. Now if you just sign here.

  [Reaches into his pocket for a pen] 

  Merle Roberts : I have a pen. I was writing to my father.

  [Merle signs and Anthony takes the document] 

  Merle Roberts : Could you please tell me the donor's address? I won't tell anyone. I won't even write it down.

  Michael Anthony : I'm sorry, Miss Roberts. I have my instructions.

  [Gives Merle check] 

  Michael Anthony : Here is the check.

• Michael Anthony : [Anthony enters a laboratory where he finds Tipton experimenting with hydroponics. Tipton is off camera with only his hands visible to viewers. He is pouring a liquid from a container into a test tube]  You sent for me, sir?

  John Beresford Tipton : [Motioning to a plant]  Look at this apple, Mike.

  Michael Anthony : [Startled, seeing an apple at least fifty times its normal size]  Amazing!

  John Beresford Tipton : If Adam and Eve had known about hydroponics, who knows what might have happened?

  [Chuckles] 

  Michael Anthony : [Smiling]  Yes, sir.

  John Beresford Tipton : Maybe I should have grown a giant pumpkin.

  [Chuckles as he hands an envelope to Anthony] 

  John Beresford Tipton : Here, give this Cinderella a million dollars, Mike.
