- The Monkees want to enter the KXIW Rockathon contest to win $500, but they find out that contest manager Jerry 'The Geator with the Heator' Blavat only allows mixed groups. Davy is chosen to dress up in drag. Soon, 'Miss Jones' falls in love with Daphne, a member of The Westminster Abbies who must dress as a guy to enter the same contest.—The TV Archaeologist
- The guys are all hyped up about entering a band contest sponsored by a radio station. The contest manager, DJ Jerry Blavat, rejects them at the registration because they have no girl in their group. The group needs the money and the exposure so they come up with a plan: Davy will masquerade as a girl. Of course, Davy is not for this plan, but under the circumstances, he has no choice but to go along with it. Unknown to Blavat and the guys, an all girl group has come up with the same idea. One of the girls is posing as a guy so they can compete.
Peter, Mike, and Micky go out on Saturday night, but tell Davy he has to stay home, since he refuses to go out in drag. They explain that their ruse can't be discovered if they want to remain in the contest. After they leave, Davy sneaks out anyway to a restaurant. He meets the girl who is masquerading as a boy for her band. They eyes meet, their hands touch, but uh-oh. . .Peter, Mike and Micky walk into the same restaurant. Davy sprints out of the door, leaving the confused girl behind with one of his high heels.
The next day, backstage at the band contest, Davy moons over the girl, but has to cover his feelings. Can't let the other guys know he snuck out the night before. He runs into the girl, and admits to her that he's been disguising himself as a female. She admits what she's been doing, too.
They go to Jerry Blavat, who wants them all out of the contest, claiming they have broken the rules. Davy tells him, "But we do have girls in the band." The Monkees and the girl band join forces to compete, as the guys sing, and the girls dance.
