Davy Jones arranged for Deana Martin to play his love interest after escorting her to her brother Dean Paul Martin's 16th birthday party.
"Last Train to Clarksville" makes a rare second-season appearance, sped up to "chipmunk" speed and presented as being performed by William the Conqueror and the Westminster Abbies.
This gives an indication of what the third 'variety style' season of The Monkees might have looked like, where The Monkees' comic antics would fill Act One and then a musical guest would be interviewed in Act Two. Davy Jones chats with Charlie Smalls, later the songwriter for The Wiz (1978), using this format. The Jones-Smalls jam session was filmed more than a month after the rest of the episode, and is in fact the last segment made for the series.
The final episode filmed for Season 2. Filmed in December 1967.
