Pam invents the slingshot and Jerry gets popped in the chest as a result. Trouble is a nice boy, Herman, gets recruited into a street gang headed by a teen thug named Monk. Herm's elderly mom runs a little shop in a run-down part of the city. A refugee from the Nazis, Mrs. Helsir's senses deja-vu when Monk shakes down her shop. But what's she going to do, and how's the comic-strip friend of the Norths going to fit in.
Pretty good episode, helped by Herb Jacobs's convincing turn as a street tough, though the other boys look no more delinquent than Boy Scouts. Note how much the featured comic strip character looks like Dick Tracy, then at the height of his popularity. Also, catch the explanation for how the upscale Pam happens to shop in Mrs. Helsir's downscale neighborhood. After all, our heroes are uptown sophisticates. Anyway, there's always the twosome's abundant charm to fall back on if things slow down.
