Mr Rose is needed by his friends, when they find themselves accused of murder, Rose is made to feel like a real busybody by The Detective on the case, The Black Beast, Chief Inspector Entwhistle.
This is an incredibly dry episode, it's a lot heavier than the first three, and doesn't have the lighter touches those do. That's not to say it's not good, in fact it's very good, it feels very much like a traditional whodunnit, if you're a fan of that genre like I am, then you will thoroughly enjoy this.
I'm not sure if there isn't a little wrangling between Mervyn, Stoney and Alexander, the three are all orating more cleanly and crisply than ever before.
It is a clever story, and it's good to see Rose actually have an adversary, someone who actually calls him out on his nonsense.
John is sent out to explore other avenues, and encounters the wonderful Heather, there is no denying how good an actress the lovely Nerys Hughes is, and still going strong.
I'm a massive fan of the prolific Kevin Stoney, and he's very watchable here, he would have just completed The Dalek Masterplan, and would soon go on to play Tobias Vaughn in Patrick Troughton's Cybermen story, The Invasion, what an exciting time for television.
A fine episode, 7/10.
