STEVE HAS SOME SPLAININ' TO DO....
tcchelsey16 February 2024
This is one of those "everything gets mixed up..." episodes, well done by series writer Lois Hire. It's fun to watch Steve in this type of predicament, because usually its the guys or Uncle Charley in a similar kind of mess.

Gets my vote for one of the most outrageous episodes of the season.

The good news is Steve gets a big promotion at the plant. At last! The bad news is his staff believes their new boss has MULTIPLE wives??? Uncle Charley brings his gal pal (played by popular actress Shirley Mitchell) to the plant for a tour, signing in as "Mrs. Douglas." Next, Katie drops by the plant, likewise signing in as "Mrs. Douglas." Do the math...

The confusion is absolutely hilarious, especially watching Fred MacMurray. He was perhaps at his best in awkward moments, and this is one of the most classic of the entire series. You have to laugh at this one. Best of it is a wonderful supporting cast, featuring Abby Dalton. At the time Abby was a regular panelist (and funny as heck) on HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, best known for playing Joey Bishop's tv wife. Look for 30s child actress Marcia Mae Jones, now all grown up, playing Mary. Marcia was popular on both tv sitcoms and cop shows.

Don't miss Gail Fisher, in a small role as Carla, months before super stardom on MANNIX. She would next appear on Love, American Style. Good trivia question for tv buffs.

10 Stars. Lois Hire wrote 18 classic episodes for the show, later writing for the BRADY BUNCH.

SEASON 8 EPISODE 28 remastered.
