Dr. Joyce Brothers wants to pitch to Maxwell her musical "Nuts", based on Tom Topor's 1979 play of the same title, about a high-class call girl indicted for manslaughter in the first degree after killing a client in self-defense. The play was adapted into 'Nuts (1987)', starring Barbra Streisand.
Lainie Kazan (Aunt Frieda) understudied Barbra Streisand for the lead role of 'Fanny Brice' in the Broadway production of 'Funny Girl' (1964). Kazan took her place in a matinee and evening performance for one day of the show's 1,348 performances' run.
