"Miss Partridge, Teacher" has a genuinely interesting premise, as Laurie earns a shot at being a student teacher for two weeks in 7th grade English, the class of Miss Halstead (Maxine Stuart, last of 3 episodes). The only one not happy for her is Danny, since that's his English class (Gary Dubin makes his fifth of six appearances as Punky Lazaar). 'Miss Partridge' makes it so much more difficult for Danny than the others that Keith wonders if she's doing it intentionally, devising an underhanded scheme that earns high praise from his little brother ("no wonder you're my idol!"); namely, turn in a short story written by a proved literary talent, Ernest Hemingway, and see her reaction to it (actually composed while he was in high school). Something hits the fan when she gives Danny a 'D' before deciding to make it a 'C-minus.' We hear two songs already featured in earlier episodes- a reprise of the unreleased "Workin' On a Groovy Thing," composed by Neil Sedaka and Chet Atkins (a cover of the 1969 #20 hit for The 5th Dimension, from "Maid in San Pueblo"), and "I Wouldn't Put Nothing Over on You," composed by Johnny Cymbal and Peggy Klinger, from eighth LP BULLETIN BOARD (heard in "Reuben Kincaid Lives").
