Paul Drake finds Charles Fuller's mother for him. But Paul is annoyed because Fuller left out the part where mom is wanted for the murder of Fuller's stepdad. Mom - Alice Bradley - had argued and struggled with her husband when he called her son an embezzler. This led to Alice falling and striking her head on the floor and then picking up a poker and killing her husband. There were witnesses. Nobody debates the facts. But the brain surgeon who operated on Alice testifies that from the time she struck her head until after the operation she was medically unconscious and therefore acting reflexively. Believe it or not Hamilton Burger is convinced and drops the charges. End of murder case number one.
But now Alice can inherit her husband's estate and her son, whose accusation of embezzlement started this whole mess in the first place, will probably be named conservator of the estate. Perry, still involved in the case, wants to know why Alice's late husband's share of the company money is so small and is planning to litigate the matter against the decedent's former partners. This leads to murder number two with Alice's son being accused this time. There are a multitude of suspects and a nice twist at the end.
And now some things that have nothing to do with the plot. Do note Francis X. Bushman is an extra in this episode, dancing with Alice right before the police pick her up. Then there is Jeanne Cooper, longtime actress on Young and the Restless, dressed up like she is planning to time travel to the 1920s complete with 1920s style hat. Finally, who exactly is the titular nervous neighbor? There is no neighbor mentioned in the plot at all.
