- The Persuaders are called in to assist the Grand Duchess Ozerov, an elderly Russian former aristocrat. There is contention as to the rightful owner of her jewels, kept in a Swiss bank. The Russian government is one claimant and her nephew Sergei another, in addition to the duchess herself. Brett and Danny are to go to the Russian village where there is proof of her marriage to Prince Ozerov and, consequently, her right to own the jewels. During the painful times of the Revolution, Prince Ozerov who had sensed the imminent danger, managed to send the family jewellery to a bank in Switzerland, however, after his murder, all documentary evidence of his wedding with the Duchess were destroyed, leaving the field clear for the Soviets and the greedy nephew Sergei to claim the fortune. Unfortunately, if no claims are validated, the jewels will go back to Russia, and in addition, there is someone who is trying very hard to avert the Duchess from getting the evidence she needs, but who could that be?—Nick Riganas
