Doc Bailey's retirement mess
JordanThomasHall23 January 2019
Longtime respected Dr. Roy Bailey (Stuart Erwin) is retiring from chairing the virus research committee. Peter overhears the doctor's voice memo to his secretary/nurse Clara (Jean Inness) and mistakes it to mean he is retiring from his practice. Peter begins telling members of the community who start planning a big farewell banquet. They invite the mayor (familiar character actor J. Pat O'Malley) who feels Doc Bailey deserves better than even a banquet- declaring a Doc Bailey Day with parades, testimonials and gifts. Peter writes a song for the event. When the doctor returns he thinks the party is for Judge Haverstrom (Harry Holcombe), who is one of the planners. When the truth is revealed, the mess deepens- complete with the governor and a new doctor. Peter's plan is a comedic one.
