Leslie Bibb: Brooke McQueen

Quotes

  • Brooke McQueen : [on phone]  Yes, Santa Monica please.

Mike McQueen : Brooke, what are you doing?

Brooke McQueen : [to operator]  I would like a listing for a motel. The No Room At The Inn.

Mike McQueen : Brooke, need I remind you that when your mother was here, you forgot Jane even existed. You were ready to leave town without even saying goodbye to her. And now that your mother is gone, you're ready to just pick up where you left off.

Brooke McQueen : [cradles phone]  I'm late.

    Mike McQueen : It's only 7:30.

Brooke McQueen : Well, I'm taking this prep seminar for the SAT. I really hope they don't have any questions about family on it, because clearly I don't understand how they work.

Mike McQueen : Sweetie, I'm not... I'm not making you responsible for any of this.

Brooke McQueen : You know what, Daddy, it sure feels that way. Every time I turn around, someone in this family is upset, or they're angry, or they're feeling betrayed. Well, I'm feeling totally lost.

    [scoffs]

Brooke McQueen : Maybe you should draw me a map.

    [turns, leaves]

  • Brooke McQueen : [after class, admiring teacher]  I love your jacket. Where did you get it?

Bonnie : This? Uh, Paris. Have you been?

Brooke McQueen : No. Oh, well, not yet.

    [giggles]

Brooke McQueen : Maybe you could recommend some colleges over there. Not that I'd get in.

Bonnie : You know, I can provide the legal cheat sheet. What I can't give you, is confidence. It's Brooke, right?

    Brooke McQueen : Yeah.

Bonnie : Let me guess. You're holding down a 3.7 average, juggling too many extra-curricular activities, a dad who worships you a little bit too much, a mom you can't completely trust and friends who would secretly love it if you had to go to beauty college.

Brooke McQueen : [amazed]  Where did you get all of that from?

Bonnie : That was my resume, circa 1991.

Brooke McQueen : Wow. Were you a cheerleader?

Bonnie : Three years. It was good training. You have to climb on a lot of backs to get through law school.

Brooke McQueen : You went to law school, too?

Bonnie : Graduated ninth in my class,

    [impressing Brooke]

Bonnie : clerked for two years, hated the people, and decided that I valued flexibility more than Armani suits.

    [Brooke smiles]

Bonnie : At least with this job, I feel like I'm... actually affecting people's lives. What about you? What do you wanna do?

    Brooke McQueen : Oh...! Uhm...

    [scoffs]

Brooke McQueen : I don't know... uhm... I just wanna be out of high school. You know, living on my own. My family situation's kinda screwed up.

Bonnie : Who's isn't? But that can help. Once I realized that home is where the heartbreak is, I made some major life decisions.

    Brooke McQueen : Really?

    [eagerly:]

Brooke McQueen : So how do I get to be you?
