Rab 'Bluebeard' Nesbitt!
Rabical-9110 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Rab becomes infatuated with Susan, the attractive leader of the Alcoholics Anonymous therapy group which Rab is attending. Susan ( who is in a troubled relationship with her fiancée Paul ) in turn seems to have a soft spot for Rab and before long the two end up seeing each other.

Mary, who is eagerly awaiting their 20th wedding anniversary, becomes suspicious of Rab when he starts behaving furtively, as well as receiving constant 'wrong numbers' on the telephone. Eventually, she finds out what Rab has been up to and throws him out on his ear. Worse to come, Susan, as well as discovering Rab is married, is back together with her fiancée and so does not want to have anything more to do with Rab. In desperation, Rab is forced to move in with Jamesie.

In order to get back at her two-timing hubby, Mary goes with Ella to a singles club but they both get horribly drunk and end up in bed with each other...

A good start to the fifth series of 'Rab C.' though it does not paint Rab in a particularly favourable light. It also beggars belief why an attractive woman like Susan would be interested in Rab who, let's face it, is not the most attractive man in the world. Susan is played by the lovely Sally Howitt. Howitt appeared in a minor role previously in the episode 'Touch' but here she is given a far more pivotal role. Howitt is now to be seen as Scarlett in the dire BBC Scotland soap 'River City'.

Iain Robertson crops up here in a minor role as Damien, a teenage boy who is attending the same AA group as Rab. Robertson took over from Andrew Fairlie in the role of Gash in 2010 when he decided not to return to the series.

Naturally, Rab and Mary get back together but then I think you would have worked that out already.

Funniest bit - Jamesie panicking on hearing Rab groaning in agony from the bathroom. ''Are you trying to kill yourself?'' asks Jamesie through the door! ''No, I'm having a shite!'' grunts Rab in response!

Second funniest bit - Jamesie almost passing out from the smell of Rab's business in the loo. According to Tony Roper, filming of this scene was extremely difficult as neither he or Gregor could keep a straight face. I can believe that!
