This episode of "Racket Squad" begins with Captain Braddock going to the hospital to see an injured friend. On his way out, he notices someone important being wheeled in to surgery. Who this guy is, Braddock cannot recall--but a young reporter is on hand. Braddock asks him who the sick man is and he's told it's some captain. Soon after, Braddock and the reporter hear that the 'Captain' died. Now Braddock remembers who the guy is and tells the story of Jim Doyle's life of crime.
Doyle got hooked up with a grifter (Paul Fix) but they had no luck. The problem is that Doyle looked and acted nothing like a con man. He was too gruff and his manner too stiff. Instead of instilling confidence, folks thought he was a cop! Then Doyle got an idea and made himself a fake fire department captain. Now he and his friend had a new scam--a scam that made them quite rich. What's next? See the show.
Like most episodes of the series, this one is quite interesting and enjoyable to watch. While it's not among the best of "Racket Squad", it is quite good and well made. Worth seeing.
