- Wishbone: Anybody knows his way twice around a skillet knows enough to be prepared for tick fever. That's what I told the trail boss too.
- Mort Henry: What's he tell you?
- Wishbone: He said go into Sugar Creek and get some tick powder.
- James Whitcomb: The day I wiped Sam Garrett out of that picture with my daughter he was wiped out of our lives forever.
- James Whitcomb: You mention that name in that town, and a wall of hate goes up so thick you could strike a match on it.
- Mort Henry: The same goes for the powder. They found out Sam Garrett was with us they just didn't seem to care about 3,000 head of cattle.
- Marcie: I know it doesn't sound bad now. But five years ago, trading with the North was worse than dancing with the Devil, at least in these parts. And Sam swore the man was an agent from England, but he couldn't prove it.
- Gil Favor: Was there a trial?
- Marcie: Oh, yes. yeah, if you want to call it that. Sam was branded a traitor and he was sentenced to five years hard labour. And as if that wasn't enough, those two legged locusts took his house, his crops, and his land.
- Gil Favor: Feeling about this place the way you do, why do you stay?
- Marcie: Well, I run a saloon, Mr Trail Boss. Besides I stopped chasing rainbows a long time ago.
- Mushy: Hey! Well, Ma'am. You don't want to forget your dresses and things.
- Marcie: Oh, Mushy, I'm sorry. I forgot I still have on your.
- Mushy: Oh, you can keep 'em, Ma'am. I couldn't never wear 'em again.
- [Mushy hides his bashful face with his cap and heads off while everyone else chuckles at his embarressment]
- Sam Garrett: You boys must be getting old. Why, you let almost a whole day pass before you dropped by.
- Sam Garrett: I thought it was you, Marcie. But you aren't the type to be wearing wings.
- Marcie: I know. Me and Lucifer.
- Sam Garrett: Blackstake whip and it went with the black striped suit I wore for five years. Anything else you wanna know?
- Gil Favor: [Gil carries on eating, while disinterested] All right, time to move out.
